Rubbish truck fire blocks lanes on Auckland motorway, major delays expected
A rubbish truck that caught ablaze on Auckland’s State Highway 16 has blocked two westbound lanes, causing significant traffic delays.
The heavy vehicle can be seen on traffic cameras billowing smoke just before the Rosebank Rd offramp, heading towards Te Atatū.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said one truck was in attendance, with another two on the way to assist.
The spokesperson warned motorists to put their windows up.
NZTA logged the blaze as a road hazard at 2.24pm, advising motorists to expect delays and pass the scene with care.
