What the fork! Police chase forklift as it hoons Auckland streets early morning

Weymouth residents were woken early this morning to a forklift being chased by police as it sped down a suburban street. 

In a video, a small forklift can be seen wobbling down Greers Rd in Weymouth, around 5.30am, while four police cars follow in an attempt to get the driver to pull over. 

Police have been approached for comment. 

The machine appeared to have damage to its tyres. 

A resident who filmed the incident told the Herald it woke her and her husband up. 

“What a racket, plus the helicopter was out too. 

“We do get a few strange things happening on the street and in the area. This was probably the most entertaining for a while.”

She said it eventually came to a stop near a driveway and spotted a tow truck picking it up just after 8am.
