Youths accused of stealing shoes, making threats at Auckland bus station
A 15-year-old has been charged after allegedly taking part in threatening and stealing shoes off members of the public at Albany Bus Station.
Police stopped a bus carrying three boys trying to flee after their alleged “violent” behaviour at the Albany bus hub in the North Shore on Saturday evening.
Officers received reports of a group of young people making threats and stealing shoes off two members of the public.
Waitematā east area commander Inspector Aron McKeown claimed three younger boys fled on a bus.
“This bus was stopped nearby by a frontline unit, and all three males were arrested.
“A 15-year-old male has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, and he is before the North Shore District Court.”
Two pairs of shoes were recovered.
“We have no tolerance for this behaviour, and we will continue to hold offenders to account,” McKeown said.
“Our staff will continue to be visible across the busway network, and we ask people to continue reporting offending so we can respond.”
In 2023, a man was stabbed to death in front of a crowd of bystanders at Albany bus station.
A 16-year-old boy was allegedly repeatedly punched in the face while on an NX1 bus from Albany to Hibiscus Coast in December last year, while two teenage girls were attacked by a group of young people at Albany in April the year before.
