Auckland Airport retires app and Strata Club loyalty programme, lounge stays open
Auckland Airport is removing the Strata Club loyalty programme and retiring an airport app.
The Strata Lounge, airside in the international terminal, will stay open.
The airport is aiming to reduce duplication in its online offerings.
The app will close at 11.59pm on Monday, November 30.
People now have one month to earn points and three months to use up points and any benefits.
Auckland Airport chief customer officer Scott Tasker today said customers could still access core services through the airport website.
“Over the past year, we’ve put a lot of work into our website to give customers a better, mobile-friendly experience and make information easier to find,” Tasker said.
“Rather than having two separate places for the same information, we are streamlining our digital services to bring everything together in one spot on the website, while removing the duplicate services offered in the app.”
Tasker said the airport would keep sending updates, support and reminders to customers about using remaining Strata Club points and benefits before the programme closes.
Existing Strata Club customer logins will automatically transition to an “AKL” login for parking bookings and future airport services on the website only.
Strata Club is one of five airport lounges in the international terminal and the only one which is not airline-branded or airline-owned.

The Strata Lounge is staying open but the app is being phased out, so regulars have one month left to collect more points.
The airport describes it as a “purely agnostic lounge” open to anybody, regardless of airline or ticket.
Qantas and Emirates each have one international lounge.
Air New Zealand has two: the Koru Lounge, at reduced capacity while renovation work happens, and The Lookout Lounge, a temporary space opened last December.
Qantas opened its revamped Auckland lounge late last year.
Strata Lounge customers were told today about the app and lounge loyalty scheme being wound down.
“Since we launched the Strata Club loyalty programme in 2017, we have worked to make our website more mobile-friendly, easier to navigate, and quicker to find what you need,” the airport told customers.
