Westpac NZ customers have vented their frustration over being unable to use online banking this morning following technical issues.

The outage has led to some customers being unable to pay bills, transfer money and has meant overnight payments have been delayed.

In an update on its website at 10.10am, the bank said: “We are aware of intermittent access to Westpac One and issues with some payments missing or showing incorrectly in Westpac One, as well as a small number of ATMs offline.

“We’re very sorry for any impacts this is causing to your banking. Please be assured we’re working as hard as we can to fix this issue.”

Around 9am, Westpac was forced to apologise for an earlier update on social media saying that Westpac One was “working as normal”.

One customer on Facebook said: “I can’t even transfer money over to pay my bills”.

Another complained: “I transferred $20 to one of my other accounts using quick transfer, as soon as I hit confirm the $20 just disappeared”.

One person said they were left standing in line at the supermarket checkout “looking like I’m trying to steal my shopping”.
