Ammunition, cannabis and LSD found in Ōtangarei search
A 36-year-old man has been arrested after police investigating suspected drug supply searched a Whangārei property.
Police said the Northland Organised Crime Unit had identified a patched Mangu Kaha member suspected of supplying illicit drugs.
Northland Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Inspector Michele Gillespie said the investigation led police to an Ōtangarei property on William Jones Drive on Wednesday.
At 6.45am, staff from the Organised Crime Unit, supported by the Offender Prioritisation Team, executed a search warrant.
Police said officers found firearm ammunition, cannabis and LSD at the property.
The 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession for supply of cannabis plant, possession of LSD, unlawfully possessing ammunition and failure to carry out obligations in relation to computer search.
He is due to appear in Whangārei District Court on August 19.
“This result reflects the ongoing commitment of police to disrupting organised criminal activity and holding those offenders to account,” Gillespie said.
“Illicit drugs cause harm to our communities, and we will continue to identify and prosecute those involved in the supply and distribution of them.”
