'Ransacked': Police arrest three Hutt Valley burglars who made off in stolen car
A Lower Hutt homeowner had a rude awakening early this morning when they discovered three intruders in their home, who then made off with the occupant’s car and valuable possessions.
An hour later, police arrested the burglars after finding them inside the parked, stolen car.
The victim called 111 after discovering strangers in their house about 5am.
“The house had been ransacked, and items of value were stolen, including their car from the garage,” Hutt Valley Area Commander Inspector Wade Jennings said.
Police found the stolen car parked outside a property in Moera about 6am and arrested three people.
Two men, 45 and 35, and a 33-year-old woman have been charged with kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
Police recovered the stolen items and seized the car.
Jennings said no one was hurt and police were providing support to the victim.
The three alleged burglars will be held in custody overnight and will appear in court tomorrow.
