Charges yet to be laid in South Auckland double homicide
Police are yet to charge anyone over a double homicide in South Auckland last week.
Two people were found dead in a Gambare Place, Wattle Downs home on August 27 by police.
Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Va’aelua says both people were fatally shot.
On Friday police said they were speaking with a 30-year-old man in custody for an unrelated offence.
Va’aelua confirmed today that police were continuing inquiries with him, but no charges had been laid in relation to the homicide.
Armed police remain guard outside a Gambare Place, Wattle Downs home after two people were found dead.
“I want to reassure the families of the deceased and the community that we are working hard to hold people to account.”
Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and has information to come forward, Va’aelua said.
“If you have any footage, whether it’s CCTV or dashcam, or you saw anything – we need to hear from you.”
Va’aelua said autopsies and the scene examination have been completed.
“The investigation team is continuing to assess every line of enquiry available to us.
“We would like to thank the members of the community who have assisted with this investigation so far, and encourage anyone who is yet to speak with us to please come forward.”
