Woman appears in court after man's unexplained death in Haruru Falls
A woman has appeared in Kaikohe District Court this afternoon on two assault-related charges involving a man who was later found dead in the Far North.
The man was found unresponsive at a property in Haruru Falls after emergency services were called about 4.30am on Saturday.
The man’s death is being treated as unexplained.
Police said the woman was arrested in relation to events before the man’s death, but she is not accused of causing his death.
She is charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on August 22.
An autopsy was due to take place on Sunday.
The woman, who has interim name suppression, also faces a second charge of injuring with intent to injure the same man on March 16.
Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm carries a maximum penalty of 14 years’ imprisonment if found guilty.
The woman will appear in court next on September 8.
