The Main Rd to Sumner in Christchurch has been closed after a reported rockfall from the Clifton hillside.
Christchurch City Council’s head of transport Stephen Wright said they were working closely with contractors and Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
Police said they had been notified for traffic management purposes around Main Rd, Clifton.

Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager Alex Norris said fire crews from Sumner were working with council staff to assess rocks that have come off the Port Hills near Clifton.

He said crews were called about 9.30am and the council had closed the road as a precaution.
