The clean-up the morning after a big night out is rarely the fun part, and two Napier women have created a business to change that.

Jenna Mabey and Hena Thorn have launched Dusty, Hawke’s Bay’s first service specialising in cleaning up after events.

The pair said they had spotted a gap in the local market for post-party clean-ups.

Unlike traditional residential cleaning services, Dusty focuses solely on the aftermath of events, including birthdays, weddings, backyard gatherings and corporate functions.

Co-founder Mabey said jobs could include clearing bottles and rubbish, resetting furniture and outdoor spaces, and restoring venues to pre-party condition.

“We’re not here to judge the night, we’re here to erase the evidence,” Mabey said.

“Hosts should be reliving memories, not scrubbing them off the floor.”

The childhood best friends bring more than a decade of combined experience in events, marketing, and media.

“We’ve worked in and been associated with events for years, and we know the energy that goes into hosting - and the dread that comes the next day,” Thorn said.

“Dusty exists so people can enjoy their celebrations without sacrificing their Sunday.”

She said their first official job was at a 50th birthday with about 90 guests, finishing a full reset in two hours while the hosts slept, making them describe the work as “a game‑changer".
