1000 properties without power in Bay of Plenty
More than 1000 Tauranga customers are without power after a tree brought down lines on Ōropi Rd this afternoon.
A Powerco spokesperson said the outage was reported at 2.18pm after a tree fell on power lines, initially affecting 1004 customers.
Properties in Ōhauiti, Ōropi, Poike and Parkvale were impacted.
The outage comes after a wet morning in Tauranga.
MetService recorded 12mm of rain today, including more than 9mm between 6am and 7am.
Powerco said it was too early to provide an estimated restoration time as crews assessed the situation.
Customers can track the latest information through Powerco’s outage map, while anyone who sees downed power lines is urged to keep clear and report the hazard immediately.
