Two people rescued after car strikes tree, election boards in West Auckland
Two people have been rescued after a car struck a tree and multiple election boards in West Auckland.
Fire and Emergency said they responded to the crash on Te Atatū and Gloria Ave in the Te Atatū Peninsula suburb about 4.40am with two trucks.
Two occupants were trapped but had been rescued and receiving car from St John ambulance.
A witness passing the scene after the crash told NZME that Te Atatū Rd was blocked at the intersection after a vehicle carrying two young women collided with multiple election signs and a tree.
They said firefighters assisted one woman from the car and onto a waiting stretcher as police cars and more ambulances rushed down Te Atatū Rd to the crash scene.

âPolice eventually moved the cordon further back, blocking Te AtatÅ« Rd from the Z service station, about 400m from the crash site.â
They said the opposite lane remained open for traffic heading out of the peninsula while police investigated the crash.
Police and Hato Hone St John have been approached for comment.
