Man filmed holding on to back of moving van before critical injuries

A person is in critical condition after falling from a vehicle travelling through a tunnel in Christchurch.

Police said they were called to Tunnel Rd, Lyttelton, about 11.40pm on Saturday.

“Initial indications are that the person may have fallen from a moving vehicle.”

In a video posted to social media by Chris Lynch Media, a man can be seen standing on the back of a moving van as it drove through Lyttelton before turning and travelling towards the tunnel.

Hato Hone St John said one person was taken to Christchurch Public Hospital in a critical condition.

Police said the Serious Crash Unit had also examined the scene and inquiries were ongoing.
