Body found weeks after Wellington man's disappearance
The body of a man who went missing from a Wellington suburb weeks ago has been found, police have confirmed.
Paddy Sowman, also known as Simon, was reported missing in late July, with a friend saying he went out the morning of the 25th and was not seen or heard from since.
The 42-year-old had been staying with the friend in Ngaio when he disappeared.
Police today said they had conducted a search and, with the help of Land Search and Rescue volunteers, found a man’s body on Sunday afternoon.
“Family have been notified and formal identification procedures are underway,” police said.
Detective Sergeant Annalise Ferguson said police were providing whānau with support and the death had been referred to the coroner.
“Police would like to thank the Land Search and Rescue volunteers who assisted in this search and our thoughts are with family and friends of the man,” she said.
