The Prime Minister is refusing to say if he has caucus support before an urgent meeting tomorrow morning.
Chris Luxon has summoned National MPs to the capital, after renewed speculation about his leadership.
He says division and disunity need to be resolved quickly.
Luxon had no answer for journalists when he touched down in Wellington this afternoon, but senior MPs Nicola Willis and Mark Mitchell have both expressed confidence in the PM.
Newstalk ZB senior political correspondent Barry Soper says potential leadership challengers would go into the meeting believing they have the numbers.
"People are too afraid to say - no, I wouldn't support them, because what happens when they become leader?"
