Off-brand peptides, weight-loss drugs on the rise in festival checks - report

The latest drug checking data from KnowYourStuffNZ has recorded that most substances matched expectations, but a rise in high-dose pills and peptide availability are keeping harm reduction workers busy.
92 percent of samples identified turned out to be what people thought they were, but there's a growing increase in performance and image-enhancing drugs - and those are somewhat harder to identify.
KnowYourStuffNZ general manager Casey Spearin says they can check these drugs to determine if harmful ingredients have been added, but there's room for improvement.
"A lot of what people are concerned about as well is the sterility - does this have bacteria or mold in it? And we aren't able to do that either."
