Marketing expert explains the impact of AI Hipkins advert
A marketing expert says a new election ad by the Taxpayers Union walks a fine line between what is and isn't appropriate.
The ad targets Labour’s capital gains tax policy, but it depicts an AI generated version of Leader Chris Hipkins bursting into homes and taking wallets and money.
Taxpayers' Union Executive Director Jordan Williams has defended the ad, saying it was purposefully made to be over the top so people would know it's intended to be funny.
Auckland University Lecturer Shahper Richter told Heather du Plessis-Allan that AI is fundamentally changing the type of advertising political parties can create.
She says even though we know it's not Chris Hipkins it's still having an impact.
