ACT's talking up the long terms benefits of letting pharmacies deliver more healthcare.
Leader David Seymour's promised to expand pharmacy powers if re-elected to Government - and let patients collect meds after-hours from electronic lockers.
The proposal authorises pharmacists to assess and treat more conditions in place of a GP.
Mangawhai Pharmacy director Lanny Wong says the workforce and the funding will also need an additional boost under this scheme.
"I think the skillsets are there, but the workforce is probably the questionable part. Pharmacies, like every other health sector are struggling with the workforce, so that's something that requires a few more interventions."
