'Tribalism and traditionalism': All Blacks great outlines future for domestic rugby
All Blacks legend Sir John Kirwan is hitting the road with the Bledisloe Cup, but he's also calling for serious changes to be made to the domestic rugby competition.
He's pitched an eight-team, trans-Tasman competition that would include some Australian clubs as well - a similar model to the NRL.
He says the domestic competition is 'struggling' and we need to get back to 'tribalism and traditionalism' over franchises.
"You can see that in rugby league, you can see that in English soccer - so people care about tribalism...they want to see people from the regions."
