Labour urged to careful not to 'over-regulate' after aviation policy announcement
There's potential for issues to emerge as Labour pledges to open the skies to more competition.
The party's new aviation policies include requiring airlines to publicly report delays or cancellations and make big airlines automatically refund flights during cancellations, or big changes.
It would also open up access to more airport infrastructure so smaller airlines can grow and compete.
Travel Agents Association CEO Julie White told Mike Hosking travellers should be given the option to jump on another flight.
She says people often book travel quite far out, so having to re-book on the day will end up being really expensive.
White says Labour needs to be careful it's not over-regulating airlines.
She told Hosking airlines would have to decide if they absorb the extra costs involved or pass them on to customers.
