Tourism New Zealand's coughed up $6.3 million to bring the world-class restaurant ranking to this country, with a ceremony taking place in Auckland this evening.

Secret judges have been roaming restaurants across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown for more than a year.

He says there's no guarantee, but they seemed impressed with the country's food offering.
