Kingmakers' Debate highlights why Labour, National are struggling in the polls - commentator
A political commentator suggests Labour and National may struggle to claw back support before election day.
The leaders of the Greens, ACT, New Zealand First, Opportunity, and Te Pāti Māori have faced off in the Stuff's Kingmakers' Debate last night.
It came as the latest 1News-Verian poll had both major parties poling at just 28% support.
Political commentator Trish Sherson told Mike Hosking the minor parties have shown they're putting thought into their ideas.
She says the major parties are struggling because they're trying to be everything to everyone but are becoming nothing to anyone.
Sherson also thinks the minor parties are doing better at delivering their policies, saying that while the debate wasn't exciting, it was civil and substantive.
