Liam Lawson's Racing Bulls career is hanging by a thread.

The Kiwi Formula One star is starting to show the exhausting signs of existing within the chaotic world of Red Bull's F1.

He sounds broken, but that hasn't slowed him down. If anything, his contractual state of flux has hardened his resolve and sharpened his race craft. Last weekend's performance in Mexico was one for the ages, although watching the UK Sky Sport feed, you wouldn't have known. The Anglophiles charged with overseeing the race coverage continued their myopic outlook, leaving fans of racing in the dark.

The treatment of Liam, not without precedent, is galling, nonetheless. This time last year, his future was hanging as the Grand Prix circus accelerated toward its end of season climax. It wasn't until the eve of the final race in Abu Dhabi that his 2026 future was rubber stamped by the fizzy drink organisation.

This year may well follow the same path, leaving Liam and his ever-swelling fan base looking for any signs from the energy drink manufacturer that may hint either way. An investigation into yeah, nah. Very Kiwi.

The soda pop conglomerate, masquerading a race team, may well drop him, even though his performances have been eye opening. His success is impossible to deny. The F1 fanbase and media have swung 180 degrees after castigating Liam for his aggressive driving, his perceived lack of respect and refusal to play the role of a midfield passenger. They are now finally showing respect for his outstanding season to date and are roundly gobsmacked by Racing Bulls' feet dragging antics.

Should Liam's obvious talents be ignored by Racing Bulls, I am certain that he won't be lost to F1, there are now no seats available, but a talent like his will surely be snapped up by team before too long. A racing team, not sugar drink company.
