Manhunt underway after two people assaulted with machete in Auckland
A manhunt is underway after two people were allegedly assaulted with a machete by two unknown men at a home in West Auckland.
The victims were seriously injured in the incident on Ahiriri Ave in Avondale about 3.20am, police Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk said.
A group of people were socialising when two unknown men approached the house.
“A physical altercation ensued and two people were wounded by a weapon one of the males had in his possession,” Kirk said.
“The pair then attempted to steal from the address but were unsuccessful and fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival.”
Police are yet to locate those responsible, Kirk said.

He and his family declined to be interviewed when approached by the Herald.
A friend of the victim said he understood the weapon used by the alleged offenders was a machete.
