Auckland supermarket forced to close after CO2 leak disrupts shoppers
A West Auckland supermarket has apologised to shoppers after a carbon dioxide (CO2) leak forced it to close unexpectedly for several hours today.
New World Kumeū shut its doors following the leak, telling customers in a Facebook update that some had been unable to shop or complete their usual purchases.
As of 4pm, the store was operating again, but some chilled and frozen products were not available.
âWe understand this is disappointing and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,â the store said.
âThe safety of our customers and team is always our highest priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resume normal service.â
The supermarket said customers affected by the closure would be contacted by a team member to discuss âany concerns or next stepsâ.
