Police investigating after Auckland man arrives at hospital with gunshot wound
Police have launched an investigation after a man self-presented at a North Shore hospital with an “unexplained gunshot wound”.
In a statement, Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie of the Waitematā Criminal Investigative Branch confirmed investigations were underway into a firearms incident in Hillcrest after a person was shot last night.
Officers were alerted to the incident at about 11.45pm when a man self-presented at an unnamed hospital “with an unexplained gunshot wound”, Goldie said.
“He received a serious injury and remains in hospital.”
Goldie said police were now making inquiries to establish exactly what had unfolded, including who was involved and responsible.
She asked for anyone holding information that may assist police with their investigation to contact 105 by phone or online, quoting file number 260803/4554.
“Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
