Bread brand Bürgen has announced it is exiting the New Zealand market.

“For years, Bürgen has been part of Kiwi breakfasts, lunchboxes and everything in between. Now it’s time for us to say goodbye,” the bread brand said in a Facebook post yesterday.

“We’re pretty gutted to be leaving, but mostly, we just want to say a huge thank you for having us at your table all these years.”

The post thanked customers for “choosing Bürgen” and “sharing it with your whānau”.

Bürgen is owned by major Australian consumer products company George Weston Foods.

The food manufacture’s brands include Tip Top, Abbott’s Bakery, Golden and KR Castlemaine.

The Herald has contacted George Weston Foods for comment.
