Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams headline Laneway 2027

The line-up for Laneway 2027 has been released, with Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams set to headline the festival.

Other names topping the bill include electropop acts Slayyyter and Kim Petras, Slovakian singer Adéla, and Australian producer Ninajirachi.

The announcement will be welcome news for fans of post-punk band Fontaines D.C, who will be playing their Auckland Laneway debut after being on the bill twice before.

They were first on the line-up in 2020 but pulled out due to “ongoing recording commitments” and were set to play at the 2023 festival, only for it to be cancelled due to the Auckland Anniversary floods.

Since then, the Dublin group have released two more albums, including their latest, Romance, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album and features the singles Starburster and Favourite.

A fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, is set to be released on October 16.

Williams will be bringing The Hayley Williams Show, her first solo show in New Zealand, which is separate from her work as frontwoman of Paramore.

She is expected to play tracks from her third solo album, Ego Death for a Bachelorette Party, marking a new chapter in her career amid the pop-punk band’s hiatus.

Auckland alt-pop act Balu Brigada will be making their return to the country after relocating to Los Angeles, while shoegaze band DIIV will hit the stage off the back of their fifth album ZIRP!

Glitchpop star Jane Remover is among the other international acts set to perform, along with dance acts Horsegiirl, DJ_DAVE and 1TBSP.

Local acts on the bill include Māori electronic artist MOKOMOKAI and Auckland alternative band Office Dog.

Laneway has a reputation for bringing major international acts to New Zealand, with previous line-ups featuring artists including Chappell Roan and Charli XCX.

More than 36,000 people attended the highly anticipated event last year, which marked a change to Laneway’s traditional Auckland Anniversary weekend date.

The festival will be held on a Sunday, returning to Auckland’s Western Springs on February 21, rather than on the public holiday. Last year, it was held on February 5, the Thursday before Waitangi Day.

Presale tickets will open on October 7.
