Christchurch office building evacuated after strong gas smell
A Christchurch office building has been evacuated after a strong smell of gas.
Fire and Emergency said crews from Christchurch Central and Ilam responded to the Awly office building, on the corner of Durham St and Armagh St, shortly before midday.
Fire and Emergency are working with a gas technician after being alerted to a strong smell of gas in a Christchurch office building.
At this stage, they are unable to confirm a gas leak, a Fire and Emergency shift manager said.
Dozens of people were seen mingling outside the building about 12.30pm.
A gas technician is also on site and resetting the gas system.
