'Determined to get answers': Man injured in BoP forest incident dies

A man critically injured in an incident at a Bay of Plenty forest on Friday night has died.

Police said they were called to Rotoehu Forest, at Pongakawa, about 10.15pm where the man was found critically injured.

Police today confirmed the man, named as Harry Burlace, 24, died in Rotorua Hospital from his injuries.

“We are continuing to piece together the events that led to Harry being critically injured, and continue to make a number of inquiries as to what happened,” Detective Senior Sergeant Natalie Flowerdew-Brown said.

“We are determined to get answers for his family.”

Hato Hone St John said it was notified of an incident in Pongakawa at 10.11pm and responded with two ambulances, two rapid response units, two managers and a helicopter.
