Police investigate after stranger found in Christchurch child’s bedroom
Police are investigating after a Christchurch couple found a stranger in their young child’s bedroom in the middle of the night.
Officers were called to an address in Wigram around 12.40am on Sunday after the man was discovered in the room.
The man was taken into custody and received medical attention.
No charges have been laid, but police confirmed inquiries are ongoing.
Taking to social media, the child’s mother described it as being “very scary” and “traumatic” to find the man in her child’s bedroom.
She said she had grabbed her child after being woken by noise in the bedroom, while her husband waited with the man for police to arrive.
“I never thought something like this would happen to us,” she wrote.
“It has been a very scary, traumatic lesson.”
While the mother said she was thankful to have woken up, she said her family would be investing in further security measures, including cameras and alarms, for their home.
