Main Coromandel Peninsula road closed after serious crash
A main Coromandel Peninsula road near Tairua has closed after a car crash that has left one person seriously injured and others hurt.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on Tairua Whitianga Rd/State Highway 25 near Pumpkin Hill at 1.30pm.
A police spokesperson said one person received serious injuries, one had moderate injuries and two others received minor injuries.
The highway remains blocked while emergency services respond.
Hato Hone St John sent two ambulances and one first response unit just before 2pm.
All four patients were taken to Thames Hospital.
