Person in critical condition after South Auckland attack

One person is in critical condition following an assault in South Auckland overnight.

The incident occurred outside a commercial premises on Massey Rd, Māngere about 12.10am. One person was transported to hospital, where they remain in critical condition, Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Tiernan said.

The alleged offender fled the scene before police arrived.

“We are making inquiries to locate them.”

A scene guard is in place on Massey Rd while police conduct an examination.

The public can expect an increased police presence, Tiernan said.

He urged anyone with information or who witnessed the assault to contact police through 105 – either online or over the phone – referencing file number 261025/0338.
