All Blacks begin Dave Rennie tenure with slim win over France
The Dave Rennie era of the All Blacks has started in winning ways despite a shaky start against France in Christchurch.
Rennie's men in black were made to work hard for victory after just six trainings together, following a disastrous first minute that saw France winger Damien Penaud score and Ruben Love yellow carded for a high tackle.
The All Blacks only led 19-13 at halftime due to a last play try, while a game France side nipped at their heels and never looked out of the match for all 80 minutes.
Captain Ardie Savea told Sky Sport it was a hard fought clash.
"A test match is a test match. It's always going to bring its challenges. The French came out here to play , they put us under pressure quite a bit," he said.
"I'm really proud of my boys. We stuck in there and we found a way."
