Fisher earns first Black Caps call-up as Duffy returns for Windies tour
The Black Caps have called up one debutant for their West Indies tour, while Jacob Duffy returns to international cricket for the first time in four months.
Northern Districts speedster Matt Fisher has earned his first Black Caps ODI call-up after taking 43 wickets from 25 matches at an average of 26 in list A.
The 26-year-old has previous international experience, having played one test against Zimbabwe in August 2025 and a T20I against Bangladesh in April.
Meanwhile, Duffy returns to the international stage for the first time since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final in March, after he missed New Zealand’s recent three-match test tour in England.
Coach Rob Walter said he was excited to have both players in the squad.
“It’s great to have Jacob and Matt joining the group and I know they’ll bring a lot of energy and excitement,” Walter said.

“It’s a nice opportunity to introduce Matt to the ODI group for the first time.
“He bowls with good pace and has been working hard on his variations to ensure he can bowl at different stages of the innings.
“Jacob has been a stand-out for us in all formats for the past couple of years.
“His skills and experience will be a great addition to our squad and I know he’s looking forward to representing New Zealand again.”
Kristian Clarke, Ben Sears and Nathan Smith join Duffy and Fisher in New Zealand’s pace attack, while spinners Jayden Lennox, Michael Bracewell and Dean Foxcroft will also be part of the squad.
Mitchell Santner continues as white-ball captain and Tom Latham has been selected as the wicket keeper.
Some big names will be missing out on the tour which starts on July 12, including Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and Will O’Rourke who have been rested after a heavy workload to start the year.
Blair Tickner is unavailable due to scheduled ankle surgery, while Devon Conway will miss the tour after the birth of his second child during the recent England series.
Rachin Ravindra also misses the series to take part in United States competition Major League Cricket.
