Toddler in US overdoses on cocaine during holiday, man charged
A toddler in the US had to be rushed to hospital after he overdosed on cocaine while on holiday.
A 39-year-old man is facing charges of child endangerment and possession of cocaine after the boy, 2, allegedly ingested the drug while in his care.
Alexander T Moles was at holiday accommodation in New Jersey, where he was looking after the boy and his siblings while their mother took a shower when the incident unfolded.
According to The New York Post, the boy looked sleepy and was having difficulty breathing.
Moles drove the boy to a New Jersey hospital.
At some point, Moles told authorities he believed the boy had taken “painkillers”.

At the hospital, Naloxone nasal spray – or Narcan – which is used to treat overdoses, was used, saving his life.
He later tested positive for cocaine.
Investigators later found a pill, tinfoil packets labelled “tapentadol hydrochloride”, a clear plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance at the family’s holiday accommodation.
Tapentadol hydrochloride is an opioid pain medicine.
Moles was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription legend drugs.
He was taken to the Cape May Correctional Facility and was released following his detention hearing with conditions.
