Meta agrees to multi-billion dollar settlement in social media addiction case

There's faith Meta will keep their promise, on a landmark $18 billion US dollar settlement.
It cuts short a trial in a federal court in California brought by 29 US states over teen social media addiction.
Instagram and Facebook will need to introduce daily limits and night-time blocks for teen users.
Sydney University Associate Professor Dr Rob Nicholls says if Meta breaks the agreement, it'll be in contempt of court.
"They weren't on a really great track - that might be because both sides knew that there was a negotiation in the wings, and ready to be settled."
