France approves its own teen social media ban

France's parliament has approved a law to ban social media for under-15s from January 2027 - making it the first European nation to block teens under these restrictions.
The law will mean everyone in France must verify their age to access social media, with French President Emmanuel Macron welcoming this move.
UK correspondent Gavin Grey says this comes after families in France have launched legal action towards TikTok over harmful content.
