'Really concerning': Govt facing scrutiny over legislation passed under urgency

The coalition Government has passed more legislation in one term under urgency than any other Parliament since records dating back to 2008.
This has raised concerns among experts, with some claiming these proposed laws aren't facing proper public scrutiny under these terms.
Constitutional law expert Graeme Edgeler says the Government is often allowing these proposed changes to bypass select committee - which is concerning.
"That's been the particular concern over this term of Parliament - a number of very important bills that they have used that type of urgency for, where you didn't even get your chance to have a say at a select committee."
