British Labour politician Andy Burnham won a byelection on Friday, securing a parliamentary seat.

He is now expected to challenge Keir Starmer for leadership of the Labour Party, and by extenstion, his role as Prime Minister.

British Political Strategist and Commentator John McTernan told Heather du Plessis-Allan that the proceedings will 'unofficially' begin over the weekend, and that Burnham should be careful with how he goes about it.

"He has to give Keir the opportunity for a for a dignified retreat, don't dynamite him out, just make him understand that it's a matter of when, not if, and then move to a sensible, swift, but, dignified transition."
