Joy is a highly respected New Zealand broadcast journalist and television presenter, best known for her extensive career with TVNZ’s 1News. A former European Correspondent based in London, she made history as the first mother appointed to the role, covering major global events across nearly 20 countries—including Brexit, royal weddings, and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Beyond her journalism career, Joy is a passionate philanthropist and the Chief Executive of One Mother to Another. Inspired by her own experiences in neonatal wards, she co-founded the charity to provide care packages to parents with hospitalized children, earning her a Kiwibank Local Hero Award for her impactful community work.
