On Sunday 9 August, 1926, listeners for the very first time heard the words "1ZB".
The Auckland station, which formed the foundation for Newstalk ZB, broadcast for three hours every Monday night. It was the humble beginning of an iconic nationwide radio station.
In 2026, we're celebrating 100 years of informing and entertaining listeners, of being at the heart of New Zealand’s conversations, and being your trusted radio station.
