Three people assaulted at South Auckland college as lockdown lifts
Three people have been attacked at a South Auckland college in an incident sparking a school-wide lockdown.
Alfriston College was placed into a precautionary lockdown this afternoon with people warned “not to come to the school”.
A police spokesperson told the Herald they were called at 1.19pm to reports of three people having been assaulted.
They said none was reported to be seriously injured.
“Police have stopped a vehicle in the nearby area and are currently speaking with its occupants in relation to the incident.
“Further information will be provided as available.”
Alfriston College principal Kylee Jefferies confirmed the lockdown had ended on the school’s website around 2.45pm.
“We have come out of lockdown and all learners, staff and persons on-site are safely accounted for,” she said.
“Everyone did extremely well and responded to instructions.”
Jefferies said a notice would be sent to parents and caregivers tonight with further information.

An announcement on Alfriston College's website.
Earlier, the school had urged people not to visit or phone while the lockdown was in place.
“You will not be able to be attended to and doing so may disrupt the management of the situation and could place you, our staff or our students at risk.”
Alfriston College is located in Randwick Park, in South Auckland’s Manurewa area.
People living close to the school reported a police helicopter circling the area.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they were notified by police at 1.24pm of an incident on Porchester Rd, Randwick Park, but confirmed ambulance crews were not required to respond.
