Police have launched an investigation after the death of a woman on Auckland’s North Shore last night.

Police were called to the intersection of Tristram Avenue and Wairau Road at 6.37pm after reports a woman had been struck by a vehicle.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams, of Waitematā CIB, said she was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died shortly afterwards.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the crash but want to hear from anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the woman’s death.

“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

“The Serious Crash Unit has completed a scene examination, and a postmortem is taking place today.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 105, online or by phone, quoting file number 261012/4844.
