Hot air balloon crashes in Methven, emergency crews at scene
Emergency services are responding to a hot air balloon crash in Methven after it became caught in trees.
Fire and Emergency Shift Manager Blair Walklin said crews responded to a call shortly after 8am.
“On arrival, one hot air balloon has come down on the road and crews are assisting on scene near removing the hot air balloon from the road that got caught up in some trees.”
Walklin said nobody was trapped in the hot air balloon when it came down.
Hato Hone St John responded with a First Response Unit and PRIME responder.
Two people were assessed at the scene, with one transported to a local medical centre in a minor condition.
The hot air balloons are a part of the Fire & Ice Hot Air Balloon Glow and Laser Festival being held in the town on Sunday.
