Fire crews swarm central Auckland hotel after alarm triggers evacuation
Multiple fire crews have flooded Auckland’s CBD after an alarm at a central city hotel.
Five fire engines are on Victoria St West as firefighters respond. One person said there had been smoke.
Nearby workers told the Herald nothing was visible from the street.
A guest said the alarm went off and everybody evacuated, but she was later told it was a false alarm.
She was waiting for the safety officer to provide the all-clear so she could get out of the cold and return to her room.
