Young child critically injured in Southland, pair of teens charged
Two people have been charged after a child was left in a critical condition after being severely injured in Southland.
Detective Inspector Stu Harvey said emergency services were called to an address in Ōtautau about 6.50pm last night.
“The child was taken to Southland Hospital where they remain in a critical condition,” he said.
“As a result of police enquiries, a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.”
Both will appear in the Invercargill District Court later today.
