Three die as news helicopter crashes while covering LA bus accident

A news helicopter has crashed while covering a bus accident at a busy intersection in Los Angeles in the United States.

Three people died when the helicopter crashed between two commercial buildings and burst into flames.

According to media reports, the flames then spread to at least four vehicles.

The crash was in Chatsworth, a suburban neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

Footage appearing to show the helicopter covering the bus crash, just before the disaster, has surfaced online.

The news helicopter reportedly belonged to NBC Los Angeles (KNBC-TV), which had lost contact with its crew.

LAFD public information officer Brandon Silverman told media the helicopter was “pretty well destroyed”.

“So we are going to have to go through the rubble and see how many victims there were on board, as well as identify the helicopter; we couldn’t even see a tail.”

According to reports, the bus crash killed at least two people and injured six others.
