The Environment Agency has declared over half of England is in drought, with new restrictions to be implemented.
The agency says the impacts are already being felt, including low river flows, early harvests and high risk of wildfires.
UK correspondent Elizabeth Callaghan says people are being warned to take shorter showers and conserve water, with many areas under a hosepipe ban.
